Strokes Due to Chiropractic Cervical Manipulation
Spinal Manipulation
A word about manipulation: spinal manipulation is a legitimate manual therapy for back pain used by physical therapists, osteopaths, physiatrists and chiropractors. Legitimate use of spinal manipulation is for restoration of mobility and function and reduction of pain in a joint and surrounding tissue. As far as the studies go, it's effectiveness has been demonstrated convincingly only for acute low back pain, but even then it is no more effective than other conventional treatments. Only chiropractors use spinal manipulation (a term sometimes used interchangeably with the term "adjustment") to remedy “subluxations” because only chiropractors believe subluxations (as they use the term) exist.
