Laurel Regional Hospital is a 106-bed, full service community hospital serving Maryland’s Prince George County as well as the surrounding areas of Montgomery, Howard and Anne Arundel Counties. It is staffed by 630 employees, including 143 nurses.
Laurel Regional offers expert care in behavioral health, from situational, affective disorders like depression or social anxiety to psychotic illnesses. Services include community support and outreach, as well as both partial and full hospitalization, and intensive outpatient services. Emergency evaluations are available 24/7. The Sexual Assault Center, established in 1975, provides both medical treatment and psychological counseling to victims of sexual assault of both sexes.
New, expanded emergency care services at Laurel Regional include a new critical care area and new pre-admission testing. These services offer expertise in acute and urgent care, as well as special rooms designated for women’s health.
The Maternity Center at Laurel Regional offers fetal monitoring, a neo-natal care system, a Caesarian delivery room and a special care nursery.
Laurel Regional has the only hospital-based, fully accredited inpatient rehabilitation unit in the area.
In 2009, the hospital introduced a new digital Picture Archiving and Computer System (PACS) which allows physicians to view radiographic images on screen from work stations throughout the hospital. These images will soon be available remotely, from physicians homes or offices, over the Internet.
