Sibley Memorial Hospital, located in Northwest Washington DC, is a non-profit, acute care hospital serving the greater DC area. With the latest technology, specialized treatment centers, and plans for near-term expansion, Sibley is able to offer a wide range of care options.

In the fall of 2010, work will begin on the New Sibley Pavilion Project. Sibley Pavilion will house a Cancer Center and an Emergency Department; the new patient rooms there will all be private. The decision to build Sibley Pavilion is partly based on patient demand; the pavilion will provide more private rooms and more space for family members, including sleeping quarters. It is also designed to update a 50-year-old patient care infrastructure, “fast track” emergency room patients, improve energy efficiency and enhance infection control. Construction is schedules for 2012-2015. Sibley Pavilion will open with 230 beds; it is licensed, however, for 328.

Specialty Centers at the hospital include the current Cancer Center, which offers numerous services as well as a full range of imaging services, a breast care center, an inpatient oncology unit, the Infusion Center, the Pain Medicine Center, psychosocial programs and other programs designed to give cancer patients the best possible care. The Sullivan Center for Breast Health offers the most minimally invasive treatments available. The center treats morebreast cancer patients than any other hospital in Maryland, Virginia and DC. The Sibley Pain Center offers the latest in the minimally invasive pain treatment modalities that are replacing oral narcotics and offering increased patient choice.

Founded in 2006, the Sibley Center for Gynecological Oncology and Advanced Pelvic Surgery brings together surgical intensivists, anesthesiologists and medical oncologists to provide the best, most modern treatments available.

With comprehensive treatments and modern facilities, the Center for Rehabilitative Medicine provides each patient with a therapy evaluation and draws up a treatment plan. The initial plan usually lasts for 6-8 weeks before the patient is reassessed and a new plan devised, based on progress.

The Center for Weight Loss Surgery offers more than surgical services to patients planning Lap-Band or gastric bypass obesity surgery. Other areas of medical expertise at Sibley include Obstetrics, Orthopedics and Oncology.
